Exploring the overlooked impact and influence of the UK’s first reggae band as they persevere against all odds.
Harder Than The Rock tells the powerful story of the UK’s first reggae band, The Cimarons — a group of Jamaican-born musicians who helped ignite the reggae movement in 1970s Britain. Formed in 1967 after arriving in London as teenagers, their music gave voice to a generation of Black British youth seeking connection, identity, and cultural roots far from home. Despite collaborating with icons like Bob Marley and Lee “Scratch” Perry, their legacy has remained largely unrecognised. This moving documentary not only traces their groundbreaking journey and lasting influence, but also follows their emotional return to the stage as they seek to close the circle on their decades-long career. Harder Than The Rock enjoyed a UK theatrical release in 2024, was broadcast on Sky Arts and NOWTV, and is now streaming internationally on Amazon Prime (USA).
“Harder Than The Rock: The Cimarons Story” is available on Sky Arts, NOWTV, and Amazon Prime USA. Executive produced by Raven’s founder Mark Antonello, produced by J6 Films and directed by Mark Warmington.
